Listen, just listen!

When singer/songwriter/dulcimer player Rick Scott wrote his first novel, it refused to stay on the page. Music seeped between the chapters and characters started demanding songs.

Thus evolved THE GREAT GAZZOON - A Tall Tale With Tunes & Turbulence, a dramatized musical audio novel on 4 CDs with 40-page illustrated songboo, guaranteed to provide many hours of peace in the car and harmony in the home.

Like his ancestors before him, Gazoon Wazoo is supposed to be practicing to Walk the Wire between the towering peaks of Mount Lanadoon. Instead he?s been playing music and making up songs with a poetry-writing Princess, two thieving friends and his special ekko. Can one boy?s love of music outsmart the angry Winds, defeat wily Lord Grot and bring balance and safety to the Kingdom?

THE GREAT GAZZOON is the epic tale of how one boy's love of music overcomes his fear and transforms his community. Over 4 hours and 60 chapters, through narration, dialogue, poetry, music and song, Rick and 25 actors, singers and musicians (most from Vancouver Island) embrace themes of literacy, friendship, overcoming fear, discovering creative process and trusting what you love.

CDs 1-3 unfold the tale with 22 characters. CD 4 GAZZOON TUNES contains full and embellished versions of songs from the story, and is available as a stand alone CD which will be released September 1.

Rick scored the story with folk melody performed on all manner of dulcimers strummed, plucked, bowed, E-Bowed, hammered and slide, accompanied by violin, cello, guitar, bass, hang, didgeridoo, percussion, kora, tama, kalimba, shakuhachi, thunder drum, horns, dishwasher and human beat box.

Valley Hennell re-wrote and adapted the story for sound recording and produced it as audio cinema with a cast including actor/singers Joelle Rabu, Saffron Henderson, John Payne and Andrea L?Heureux and musicians INCLUDING Doug Edwards, David Essig, Kinobe Herbert, Trish Clair and Kyle Shepard.

Rick and Valley?s seven previous children?s CDs have been honored with 3 Juno nominations and Parents? Choice, NAPPA Gold, iParenting Media, Children?s Music Web & Canadian Folk Music Awards.

THE GREAT GAZZOON will be released in all 2012 in a 4 CD custom cardboard package with 40-page booklet illustrated by Ottawa artist Linda Sanborn, who retires in August after 35 years teaching Art History& English Literature at C.E.G.E.P. Heritage College in Gatineau, Quebec. Graphic design by John Maclachlan of Hornby Island.
