WASHINGTON ? President Barack Obama said a single provision of the Affordable Care Act has given refunds to more than 8 million Americans.
The President gave an update on the progress of the law Thursday, focusing on the value people are getting from health care benefits.
A group of people who have benefited from his signature health care law joined him on stage at the White House. President Obama said the Affordable Care Act has been critical in stopping the rise of health care costs.
"Health care inflation is not skyrocketing the way that it was. Because of this new rule, because of the fact that it improves the value of the coverage that you purchase, last year alone Americans saved $3.4 in lower premiums," said President Obama.
House Republicans passed legislation Wednesday that would delay requirements for individual coverage for one year and the requirement that large employers offer health insurance, a measure the White House had already taken.
Those bills are the 38th and 39th time Republicans have tried to eliminate or scale back the law.
They are not expected to pass the Senate.
